Introduction
Europe is once again finding itself in times of war. German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall has launched construction of a new ammunition manufacturing plant upgrading its ability to produce many more shells and cannons for its main battle tank, the Leopard 2.1 Besides all this there is talk worldwide of conscription coming back. Even in Australia, there is talk of bringing back conscription to increase our armed forces.2 Conscription was abolished by Labor Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam in 1972 but it seems like National Service could be reactivated as concerns of major regional conflicts and a World War 3 scenario increase.
The concern comes about after Russian President, Putin does not seem to be backing down in his ambitions for Ukraine in his push to protect itself from the increasing expansion of NATO. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. According to the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU), at least 10,000 civilians, including more than 560 children, have been killed and over 18,500 have been injured since the full-scale attack.
European concerns of war
Several European Prime Ministers and leaders have publicly expressed concerns about the possibility of war.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius recently warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin could attack a NATO country “within five to eight years”. Pistorius made his dire prediction during an interview with the Berlin-based Der Tagesspiegel newspaper. Pistorius’ remarks coincided with similar warnings by Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin, who said that “war could come to Sweden”.
Other government figures have also spoken out and underlined the German defense minister’s basic assessment, including Estonia’s President Kaja Kallas. Speaking to the UK’s The Times newspaper, she said: “Our intelligence estimates it to be three to five years [for Russia to return as a serious military threat on NATO’s eastern flank] and that very much depends on how we manage our unity and keep our posture regarding Ukraine.” Russia wants a pause, she added, “and this pause is to gather its resources and strength. Weakness provokes aggressors, so weakness provokes Russia.” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also warns of the real risk of a Russian attack on NATO countries. Britain’s Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced that the UK will send 20,000 armed forces personnel to one of NATO’s largest exercises since the Cold War: “Steadfast Defender”. The military exercise drills comprising 90,000 troops will run through May and practice repelling an invasion by Putin’s forces.
The bear and three ribs
An important prophecy in Dan. 7:1-7 is his dream of four future beasts with seven heads which is reproduced in Rev. 13: 1-3. Many Bible commentators consider the four beasts to be Babylon (lion), Media-Persia (bear), Greece (leopard) and Rome (fourth terrifying beast) but Daniel says that these four beasts are four kingdoms that will arise from the earth. They can’t be historical because only Greece and Rome were in the future when Daniel had his dream. Furthermore a similar conglomerate beast vision involving Daniel’s animals is reproduced in the Book of Revelation indicating a future end times beast. I believe Russia is the bear pictured with three ribs in his mouth. A possible political scenario is that Russia will incite Russian-speaking minorities in the Baltic states to turn against their neighbors (NATO). Moscow would then use the political crisis in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to weave a false narrative that these minorities were being unfairly targeted to a degree that demands intervention. In response, Putin would launch a large-scale exercise called “Zapad 2024” in September, involving at least 50,000 Russian troops in Belarus and western Russia. Belarus is Russia’s ally. Russia would also love to connect a land bridge to its isolated territory Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea which has become a political hot potato in recent years.3
Putin can rely on Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko for logistical support. Lukashenko is regarded as a Putin puppet, but is seen by the Kremlin as an important ally. In a 2023 interview, Lukashenko was quoted as remarking, “The only mistake” Russia and Belarus made was “that we didn’t resolve this issue in 2014-2015, when Ukraine had no army and wasn’t prepared.”
The only mistake Russia and Belarus made was "that we didn’t resolve this issue in 2014-2015, when Ukraine had no army and wasn’t prepared."

Is war coming?
Yes. I think so. It has to if Daniel’s prophecy is true. A bear needs to arise and consume three neighbouring countries. I don’t think one of those ribs is Ukraine because Russia considers Ukraine as its territory like China considers Taiwan as Chinese. Be prepared, the drums of war are beating and Germany is increasing its war footing by building ammunition plants. It has probably the best main battle tank (MBT) in the world–the Leopard 2. Germany is the third beast (leopard) and it has four heads: The leopard like beast (Germany) is unique in that it has four heads whereas all the other beasts only have one head each. So, what do the four heads represent? Whereas the beasts themselves represent a particular empire or kingdom, each time that nation rears its ugly head so to speak is another time when that empire rises and falls. So far there have been three heads (three German Reichs). The First Reich was the Holy Roman Empire first ruled by a Frankish king Charlemagne (800–1806). The Second Reich was the German Empire under Otto Van Bismark (1871–1919). The Third Reich was Adolf Hitler’s rule (1933–1945). The fourth head will be the Fourth Reich: the head that is revived because the third (Hitler) had a fatal head wound.
Everything is coming together as is prophesied and besides it has to, because the sixth day (6000 years) is drawing to a close. Keep watching these prophetical events as they unfold. It seems like it’s all just politics but God is in control and the ‘peaceful’ times as we know it are coming to an end.
