Revival Series

Revival in a post-Christian era
Preached at Churchill Baptist Church
(9/1/2022 → 8/5/2022)

The city of Jerusalem in Nehemiah's day

The book of Nehemiah is all about a man who has a vision of reviving the people and the walls of Jerusalem after God brings him the vision via his brother Hanani.  Nehemiah weeps and prays for the people and the place and a plan is formulated.  But it is going to need resolve, determination, and perseverance to see that vision accomplished.  Never before has the church faced such an existential crisis as it is facing now with, in my opinion, not more than a decade or so until Christ returns.  We are living in a post-Christian era where Christian morals, ethics, and values are under serious attack.

The church needs a revival before the great falling away or great rebellion described in 2 Thess. 2:3 occurs when the man of sin, the Antichrist comes onto the world stage.  The world needs Christ and salvation and perhaps there will be many saved in the end.  But what can we do now and what does God want us to do right now?  We need to weep and pray, confess our sins, the sins of the nation, and get back into the Word of God.  Only then will repentance occur and we will see great things accomplished for God.  The ten gates that Nehemiah repaired tell the redemptive story in chapter 3...

Where there is no vision, the people perish (Prov. 29:18 KJV) but without guts, determination, and resolve the vision will perish.  So I hope as you listen to this series you will gain a vision for what God wants to do through you in this post-Christian era and the determination to stick with it to the end.
