The Minor Prophets are anything but minor. They are minor only in the sense that they are not as lengthy as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and Ezekiel. But they are just as important. The major message of the 12 minor books is that we must wake up from our slumber and realise that God is doing something major in the world. The Minor Prophets span 450 years of Israel's history. As we study through some of them we will see the fingerprints of God's love through His judgment and discipline. We need this message of judgment and discipline like never before. Preachers must preach the message of repentance and the love of God to restore His people. Judgment is coming and judgment begins with the household of God.
God's message through His prophet Hosea, which means "salvation," to His people in the northern kingdom of Israel was to repent and that His love for His people is a jealous love. God is jealous for His people and He wants you to remain faithful to Him. Israel's idolatry is like adultery in the eyes of the Lord.
